“Seeds of Sustainability”
21 – 29 May 2019, Gravina – Puglia, Italy
NGO KEAN participates as partner in the Youth Exchange project entitled “Seeds of Sustainability” which will take place in Gravina in Puglia (Italy) from the 21st to 29th of May 2019.
The project, approved by the Agenzia Nazionale per i Giovani and co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme (of the European Commission), is organised and hosted by the Italian Organisation “UnionProEurope”. It will gather 36 youngsters from Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Spain, Poland and Estonia with the aim of analyzing the different lifestyles and good practices in order to promote sustainable activities and reduce the human impact on the planet. Through non-formal education and experiential learning methods, the participants will create, discuss, share, learn and engage in activities connected to ecology, with the overall objective of reducing our daily impact on the environment.
The promoters of the initiative argue that “our actions have a huge impact on the environment: climate change and plastic in the seas are just the tip of the iceberg and although many say they are sensitive to these issues, they are still too few people who really do anything”. This is an invitation to choose more sustainable lifestyles, both for our health and the planet’s one.
In short, the project is in the field of environmental education. The organizers of the initiative conclude: “As Seeds of change, we want to contribute to the development of the participants, promoting the sense of responsibility on environmental issues, encouraging a healthy lifestyle, sustainable consumption, the principles of the Mediterranean Diet and the use of less polluting means of transport.”
