«Basic Goods Structure: Social Grocery in the Municipality of Heraklion, Attica»

KEAN in collaboration with the Municipality of Heraklion Attica started the operation of the Basic Goods Structure “Social Grocery” as early as January 2018 and distributes to residents of New Heraklion, on a regular basis, food, groceries, basic materials entertainment etc.

The items will be distributed on a regular and regular basis to the beneficiaries who need them. Beneficiaries of the services provided by the structure are individuals and households who are in poverty or at risk of poverty (persons / households residing in the Municipality where the structure operates, including legally resident and stateless persons, as well as beneficiaries / applicants international protection).

The Structure operates with fixed hours, from Monday to Friday, 8: 00–16: 00 on the 1st Basement Floor of the City Hall of  Heraklion, Attica, at 2 St. Karagiorgi Street, 14121. Tel: 210 2718952

The Structure from the beginning of its operation is staffed by two (2) people of specific specialties, in order to ensure its smooth operation: 1 Social Worker & 1 Auxiliary Staff

In order to ensure the operation of the social grocery and the distribution of basic goods to the beneficiaries, KEAN in collaboration with the Municipality of Heraklion implements all necessary actions to secure sponsorships, donations (such as citizen contributions, contributions of organizations, from companies in within their corporate social responsibility etc.).

• Dealing with the food problem of the beneficiaries
• Addressing the lack of basic materials (sanitary ware, clothing, etc.) of the beneficiaries
• Elimination of exclusion for the social integration of beneficiaries
• Enhancing access to affordable, sustainable and high quality services
• Disabled access to high quality services
• Creating a network for the protection of beneficiaries
• Development of a mechanism for the protection of beneficiaries
• Awareness of the local community
• Awareness of local community businesses
